Chattahoochee Hills Paddle
Next stop, just around the bend! On October 24th, join the Georgia Conservancy for a one-of-a-kind overnight paddling adventure on this seldom explored and beautifully wild section of the Chattahoochee River along Chattahoochee Bend State Park in Coweta County. Part of the the Heartland Rivers of Georgia Paddle Series, the Chattahoochee Hills paddle includes a guided paddle, delicious meals and an overnight stay at Chattahoochee Bend State Park.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park opened in 2011 with 2,000 + acres and over 5-miles of river frontage. At night, paddlers will sleep along the river banks and under the stars on the State Park’s truly unique backcountry platforms only accessible by boat. Come join us on this adventure and discover the secrets of the Chattahoochee and its backcountry magic!
Guests will meet at Chattahoochee Bend State Park on Saturday morning at 9:30, shuttle north to the Highway 16 boat ramp and paddle eight miles downriver, returning to Chattahoochee Bend State Park for a riverside campout in the recently installed “paddlers only” backcountry platform campground area.
During Saturday’s 8-mile paddle, participants will be flanked by rolling hills and small bluffs and will float past the beautiful and historic McIntosh Reserve Park.
On Sunday morning, guests will enjoy a riverside breakfast before embarking on a leisurely 3-mile paddle downstream to the park’s southern-most take out site.
Registration includes shuttle service, guide service, two meals (Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast), and the Georgia Conservancy Trips Trifecta: samples of Sweet Grass Dairy cheese, SweetWater Brewing Company beer and Cafe Campesino coffee.
Costs:
$80 - Overnight paddling and camping trip (does not include canoe rental)
$200 - Overnight paddle for family of four (does not include canoe rental)
Canoe rental:
$25 per person, per weekend spot in a canoe (we will pair paddlers if coming solo)
The Chattahoochee Bend State Park Paddle is part of the Heartland Rivers of Georgia Paddle Series hosted by the Georgia Conservancy to showcase the outdoor recreation, conservation and economic development opportunities on Georgia’s underutilized Heartland Rivers.
