Exploration of Vintage and Oak Choices
Sunday, April 17 | Noon
Explore the choices winemakers make through a tasting which targets the differences in vintage variation and oak aging. Enjoy a tasting of the entire line of Honor’s boutique 300 case or less production with winemaker Sean Meyer - Partner/Winemaker Honor Winery. In addition to these, the experience will highlight 4 wines to provide clear examples of winemaking choices. The first pair, two bottlings of a Russian River Pinot Noir from the same site but with different oak treatments. The second pair, 2 different blends of Bordeaux varieties, blended to be individual expressions of two vintages. There will be a discussion on the differences and similarities between the wines and the reasons for the choices made.
As sommelier and wine director for some of the world’s greatest culinary geniuses, including Chefs Thomas Keller (Bouchon/French Laundry), Frank Stitt (Highlands Bar and Grill/Bottega/Chez Fonfon), and Tim McKee (La Belle Vie), Sean Meyer developed a keen palate and expert knowledge--gaining respect from both patrons and colleagues. Sean acquired a first-hand understanding of winemaking working with some of Napa’s finest wineries including Cardinale, Lokoya, and Freemark Abbey.
Honory Winery's mission is to give tribute to the extraordinary service and sacrifice of our uniformed military veterans, active duty and their families. Over the last two years, they have been able to contribute over $200,000 to charities benefiting the fallen and injured.
